How Jesus showed love
This is the first in a series of studies thinking about how Jesus demonstrated love, as seen in the New Testament. Jesus' baptism Baptism is a sign of repentance, forgiveness and cleansing. Jesus had no sin, and no need of forgiveness or cleansing. Jesus went to John and asked to be baptised by him. Even though John had said of Jesus, "After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie" . Jesus said, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Jesus was humble in his actions. He was prepared to publicly be seen as less than he thought was. He knew that there is a time for everything. And he was careful to ensure that all righteous was fulfilled, rather than taking up all his rights.
